Former Pakistani I&B Minister questioned Sami’s citizenship status leading to this fight
Adnan Sami, the London-born singer and composer, found himself at the center of an online exchange with former Pakistani Information and Broadcasting Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain after Hussain questioned Sami’s citizenship status, according to reports.
The online war of words began when Hussain commented on social media, asking, "What about Adnan Sami?" in response to a post discussing broader issues between India and Pakistan.
Sami, who was granted Indian citizenship in December 2015 after years of living and working in India, responded to Hussain’s remarks.
In his response, Sami corrected misinformation about his background. He clarified that while he was born in London, his family's roots trace back to Peshawar in Pakistan. He also highlighted that his father served as a pilot and diplomat in the Pakistan Air Force, and his mother was originally from Jammu and Kashmir.
The exchange continued with Hussain making a sarcastic remark suggesting Sami had "deflated like a balloon," wishing him a speedy recovery. Sami, in turn, questioned Hussain’s knowledge of his personal history and made pointed remarks about Hussain’s previous ministerial roles.
Adnan Sami officially acquired Indian citizenship in December 2015 after the Indian government approved his request on humanitarian grounds. Since then, he has been an active figure in India's music and entertainment industry.
The online interaction between Sami and Hussain drew attention across social media platforms, with users weighing in on both sides of the debate.
