Dubai: The UAE’s Federal Tax Authority has upgraded three of its services, including that related to issuing tax certificates.

Thus, the number of documents needed for the tax certificate issuance service has been cut to five from six earlier, while reducing the number of fields from 12 to 9.

The service enhancement measures include ‘refining’ the search feature on FTA's website for easier access to the service login link, automating data verification through electronic linkage, and enabling the request for multiple certificate copies and integration with the UAE Pass. Also provided is the electronic seal on the digital certificate for validation.

"To simplify procedures and enhance integration with other systems and entities, the FTA has refined the process for issuance of tax certificates,” said Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director-General of the FTA.

“This includes issuing the tax residency certificates to enable applicants to benefit from tax treaties in which the UAE is a party, and tax residency certificate for domestic purposes. Additionally, the FTA issues certificates for business activities.”

Excise goods registration

Also updated is the excise goods registration inquiry response service to ‘improve customer experiences’ and provide info through ‘electronic systems to partners via a single channel’. The service application time has been reduced from 5 minutes to 2 minutes, and the service delivery time cut from 2 days to 5 minutes.

Enhancements to the service include providing immediate responses to customer inquiries without redirecting them to FTA's partner websites.

Tax refunds for UAE Nationals

A third service upgrade relates to tax refunds for UAE Nationals building new residences. The processing time for these applications are cut from 25 to 20 minutes, and the number of steps reduced from six to five. The various fields required are brought down from 35 to 28.

The FTA has also revamped its website's search feature to incorporate a direct service application link on the most visited pages for easier access.
