Everyone likes to shop, but carrying loads of heavy bags while walking around the mall can be a total turn-off.

Shoppers who dread being weighed down with goodies can now heave a sigh of relief as one mall in Dubai has devised a way to make shopping more convenient.

Majid Al Futtaim announced on Sunday the launch of its “hands-free shopping” service at the Mall of the Emirates: customers can drop off their bags at designated points around the mall and collect them later or have them delivered to their home.

“The unique service is available exclusively at Mall of the Emirates and is designed with every type of shopper in mind - whether you’re a parent strolling the mall with the little ones, a keen shopper looking for some relief, or a tourist looking to have your shopping delivered directly to your hotel at a later time. [The service] takes the strain away while you continue to shop, dine or catch up with friends,” the company said in a statement.

It is the first of its kind service introduced in the region. The mall first tested it in December 2016 and received positive response from shoppers. MAF has tied up with Fetchr, a regional start-up, to offer the convenient shopping facility.

How it works:

1.     Shoppers can drop off shopping bags at the Hands Free collection desks located in the mall.

2.     All items will be securely sealed in the mall by Fetchr representatives who will arrange delivery or collection depending on your preference.

3.     Delivery can be conveniently scheduled using the Mall of the Emirates mobile app or calling the Hands Free Shopping team, 20 minutes before leaving the mall. Shoppers can also use the Fetchr app to request home delivery.

4.     Storing bags at the collection desks is absolutely free, while competitive same day and next day delivery rates to hotels and residences in Dubai and other emirates in the UAE will apply.
