Dubai: The new extension of the Mall of the Emirates, which was opened to the public on Monday, is a Dh1 billion mega project that features a host of shopping, dining and entertainment options that seek to enhance customers' experience.
Here are the key features of the new extension:
Size
Located on the third floor of the mall, the extension spans 36,000 square metres, which is equivalent to the size of about nine acres or eight professional football fields.
Domes
It took a 3,000-man construction crew and 18 months to develop the extension, which also features two new domes, three major glass barrel roof lights, nine new bridges and three escalators that connect the extension to the existing mall.
Vox Cinemas, new retailers
One of the key attractions of the extension is the revamped Vox Cinemas that consists of 24 screens, 40 retail shops including more than 20 fashion retailers and 12 restaurants.
The Vox Cinemas itself is a massive space, a 100,000 square-foot entertainment facility with a completely revamped 24-screen Vox Cinemas.
Valet service, additional parking
For those who opt for a valet service, the mall offers a "new luxurious valet parking experience" just near the Fashion Dome and Central Galleria, where high-end brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Burberry, can be found.
