Abu Dhabi: Filli Café, a tea “n” talk outlet is expecting an annual turnover of around Dh250 million in the coming years as it focuses on expansion, founder and chief executive officer of the cafe told Gulf News in an interview.
The popular tea joint has recently opened an outlet on Airport Road in Abu Dhabi taking the total number of outlets in the UAE to twenty six. The current turnover of the cafe joint is about Dh50 to Dh60 million per annum.
“We are targeting [to open] hundred stores across the UAE by 2020 as part of our expansion plans in the UAE with an investment of Dh100 million,” said Rafih Filli.
Apart from the UAE, the beverage chain is also targeting new outlets in India, US, UK and GCC countries. The cafe has two outlets in Mumbai and is planning to open another one next month in the same city.
Other countries
The UK outlet is scheduled to start operating in four to five months’ time and the company’s foray in the US is expected by the end of this year in New York City, Filli said.
“We have registered our brand in forty four countries worldwide and are moving towards starting more outlets in future. India is a big market and we want to be present in all the states.”
“We compete with the larger coffee houses and brands, and feel we give a different experience to our customers. We see a good growth in the coming years due to popularity of our brand.”
The cafe chain boasts 26 outlets across the UAE, located in Jumeira Beach Road, Dubai silicon Oasis, Mankhool, Business Bay, Ajman Corniche, Abu Dhabi Airport Road, among others. It was founded in 2004.
The signature beverage of the outlet is “Zaffran Chai” a unique combination of steamed milk, tea and saffron. A small cup of tea is sold for Dh6 and a tall cup will cost Dh10.
