Dubai developer-investor is lining up multiple projects in US, including data centers
Dubai: The Dubai developer Damac is going ahead with a super-luxury residential project in Miami, with the design to be done by famed Zaha Hadid Architects.
The confirmation comes as the Damac founder Hussain Sajwani has spoken about committing substantial investments in the US, including in data centers.
The plan is to launch ‘The Delmore’, a 12-storey oceanfront condominium located at 8777 Collins Avenue in the Town of Surfside, Miami.
Prices for four- to five-bedroom units in The Delmore – all fully finished, each with private elevator entry foyers – start at $15 million.
It was in 2022 that Damac won the rights for the Miami plot, spending $120 million.
Construction has started for a possible completion of 2029, while sales are being brokered by Douglas Elliman.
“The beachside condominium will be a showpiece within (Miami's) Surfside,” said a Damac statement. “Adjacent to Indian Creek and minutes from Bal Harbour, the Town completes the coveted ‘Billionaire’s Triangle’, one of Miami’s most revered destinations.”
Damac also has a luxury project in London and other overseas markets. In Dubai the developer launched multiple projects, including Damac Islands and Riverside, hoping to cash in on another year of strong offplan property sales.
According to US estate agent sources, luxury Miami homes by the beachside have done well through the many many up and down cycles that the US residential property market goes through.
On its part, Damac is highlighting the luxury aspect of what's getting built.
"We have been focused on delivering an ultra-luxury product to the South Florida market unlike anything the area has seen previously,” said Jeffery Rossely, Senior Vice-President of Development for Damac International.
“Between Zaha Hadid Architects’ stunning designs and our global expertise, we are confident that The Delmore will be an extraordinary project, especially as we are designing homes for permanent residents, reflecting the transition we see occurring throughout the region.”
Zaha Hadid Architects through the years has been closely associated with some of the landmark developments in the UAE, including the futuristic headquarters of the Sharjah-based alt-energy company Beeah. There have also been The Opus from Omniyat in Dubai, and the Aljada Central Hub, also in Sharjah.
The Damac project - set on a two-acre spread - will be the firm's second residential project in the Miami area and 'one of the firm’s select few in the US'.
“Our team was tasked with conceptualising an oceanfront development that would redefine the standard for bespoke residential in a region that has earned global acclaim for its luxury offerings,” said Chris Lepine, Director of Zaha Hadid Architects. “
