Dubai: iPhone users across the UAE can look forward to a significant upgrade this fall with the official rollout of Apple's new operating system, iOS 26. The American tech juggernaut unveiled updates to its operating systems during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2025) on Monday. The highly anticipated software updates – iOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26- will bring many new features and enhancements to compatible devices.

Developers will be able to test iOS 26 immediately. At the same time, a public beta is set to become available next month, offering users a sneak peek at the new functionalities. The full, free software update is expected to reach iPhone 11 and later models across the emirates this fall, said Apple. The public beta usually arrives in July, about a month after the first developer beta. In 2024, it came on July 15, so tech enthusiasts are anticipating a similar release in 2025.

However, it's important to note that Apple's advanced "Apple Intelligence" features will require newer operating devices. These cutting-edge capabilities will be exclusive to all iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and compatible iPad and Mac models equipped with M1 chips or later.

While many iPhone users will receive the general iOS 26 update, the most advanced AI functions will be limited to Apple's latest and most powerful hardware. The iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max will miss out on iOS 26.

Apple will continue to provide software updates, including security patches, for older iPhones running iOS 18 for several more years, ensuring continued support even if they don't receive the latest OS.
