38% of stock market investors are UAE women

Dubai: About 38 per cent of investors in banking and finance sectors in local stock markets are UAE women, according to Raja Al Gurg, President of Dubai Business Women's Council.

"The contribution of national women to UAE's labour force is estimated to be around 16.5 per cent as of 2004, compared to 11.7 per cent in 1994," Raja said at the Dubai-Osaka Economic Partnership Forum yesterday.

"UAE women also comprise 37.5 per cent of the investors in banking and finance sectors in local stock markets," she said.

Raja also said that the estimated growth of the UAE GDP this year will be around 14 per cent.
