Super cars, boats and more as Big Boys Toys Super Show opens
Dubai: The world's fastest street car, a $3.5 million luxury mobile home, the latest digital gaming equipment and more of the most coveted high-tech gadgets will be on parade starting on Thursday as the Big Boys Toys Super Show opens at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The three-day trade and exhibition event, which has had runs in Dublin and New Zealand, is being held for the first time in the UAE, taking advantage of the country's reputation as a key market for big brands and high-tech products.
The event will display a diverse range of cars, SUVs, motorbikes, sports equipment, clothing, hobbies and high-end accessories categorised in seven special zones – Drive, Ride, Off-Road, Marine, Aviation, Lifestyle and Wired.
While it is being staged in the wake of a global economic downturn, organisers are optimistic of a strong participation and have even committed to make the Big Boys Toys Super Show an annual showcase.
"There has been a strong response to the event despite the downturn, which underlines the massive appeal of high-tech gadgets and luxury products in the Middle East. We intend to organise the event annually to take advantage of the region's huge potential in this market segment," said Biju Jayaraaj, CEO of Artaaj, organiser of the event.
One of the key features of the event is the Maxximus G Force, regarded as the world's fastest street car that can go from zero to 60 mph in just 2.134 seconds. The car is being showcased in the Middle East for the first time. Another key attraction is The Heat, a $3.5 million luxury mobile home used by Hollywood stars such as Will Smith and Vin Diesel.
Aside from a diverse range of gaming, entertainment, sporting and lifestyle products, visitors are also treated to a number of activities such as indoor golf, a gaming competition, an airsoft challenge, a music lounge and a 9-ball pool tournament featuring world number one player Ralph Souquet.
