Etihad Crystal Cargo introduces SMS tracking
Muscat: Etihad Crystal Cargo has introduced SMS tracking for Oman as well as other GCC-based customers, giving the company's customers the ability to track their shipments via mobile telephone.
Etihad Crystal Cargo is a division of Etihad Airways.
The service is being introduced in all the GCC countries that Etihad Airways has routes to. The SMS service will be available for Oman-based customers of Etihad Crystal Cargo from today onwards, says a press release from Khimji Ramdas Shipping LLC is Etihad Crystal Cargo's General Sales and Services Agent in the Sultanate. By sending a text message with the "Airway Bill Number(s), the customer gets real-time information about the status of their consignments directly onto the display of their mobile phone," said Ingo Roessler, vice president of cargo for Etihad Airways.
The new service comes at a cost of a standard text message, offering the customer an additional 24/7 option to track their shipment to the online tracking tool provided on www.crystal cargo.ae .
The technology used is an SMS Gateway solution for two-way transmission of text messages called "SMS Xprez."
