Dubai: Food packaging product manufacturer Hotpack Global opened its largest production facility in Dubai’s National Industries Park (NIP) on Monday. With an estimated investment of Dh250 million, the 500,000 sq ft facility will produce Hotpack’s signature high-performance PET (polyethylene terephthalate) packaging products, according to company officials.

The Jebel Ali facility will also function as a centre for the company’s manufacturing, e-commerce, logistics, and marketing divisions. Abdul Jebbar PB, Group Managing Director of Hotpack Global, said the new facility will be Hotpack’s most technologically advanced yet.

“With our large warehouse that has a capacity of 35,000 pallet storage spaces, the manufacturing unit will also function as our export hub,” said Jebbar.

The company will also produce new thermal-resistant PET cups – Compressed PET lite, a product that can withstand 100-degree temperatures at the new plant, announced Anwar PB, Group Technical Director at Hotpack Global.

“The company’s research and development (R&D) team is constantly working on new projects to incorporate the latest technologies and developments in PET manufacturing into our product line,” he added.

Moreover, the new plant drastically minimises human intervention in the manufacturing process, said Zainudeen PB, Group Executive Director of Hotpack Global. “The manufacturing process incorporates robotic packaging systems, automatic roll handling systems and vendor-neutral archives for warehouse material handling, limiting the need for human intervention,” he added.

As part of its aggressive expansion strategy in the Middle East, Hotpack also opened its first manufacturing plant in Doha, Qatar, last week to produce Hotpack paper products.

Moreover, the company has also expanded its e-commerce store to all GCC countries and launched numerous sales centres in Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.

The company also announced that it would soon launch new manufacturing plants in Saudi Arabia, India, Malaysia and Serbia in the coming months.
