Abu Dhabi: The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has released special commemorative gold and silver coins to honor the 'Zayed and Rashid' campaign. These coins celebrate the enduring legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, (may their souls rest in peace) recognising their pivotal roles in establishing the Union and strengthening the UAE's national identity.

Commemorative coin details

The gold coin, weighing 40 grams with a 40 mm diameter, features the likeness of Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid on its front. The back displays the UAE's national emblem, encircled by "Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates" in both Arabic and English. This exclusive gold coin can only be purchased from the Central Bank's headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The silver coin, larger at 50 grams with a 50 mm diameter, also showcases the two leaders on its front. The reverse side features the national emblem, the Central Bank's name in both languages, and the phrase "Commemorative Coin" in Arabic. The silver coin is available for purchase directly from the Central Bank's website.

A tribute to National legacy

Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the CBUAE, emphasised the significance of this issuance. He stated, "We proudly announce the issuance of these commemorative coins, which embody the meanings of loyalty and belonging to the national legacy left by the founding leaders... This issuance marks the 'Zayed and Rashid' campaign, aiming to solidify the values of unity and development upon which our nation was founded, and to highlight inspiring milestones in their journeys." He further affirmed the CBUAE's commitment to preserving national history and instilling it in future generations.
