Dubai: Departure gates for a number of flydubai flights out of Dubai will relocate to another terminal starting late this year in order to improve connectivity between the budget carrier and Emirates, it has been announced.
The Dubai-based airline said on Wednesday that from December 2, planes bound to Belgrade, Bishkek, Bucharest, Catania, Dushanbe, Helsinki, Krakow, Prague, Rostov-on-Don and Salalah will depart from Terminal 3 of Dubai International.
"Passengers booked to travel to these destinations will be able to check in for their flight at the business class and economy class desks in the departures area of Terminal 3," the airline said.
"Business class passengers will be able to use fast track on the ground and enjoy other business class services, while transiting passengers will have a smooth and quick transit time."
The move is intended to enhance “customer journey,” offer flyers “unmatched opportunities to travel” and optimize passenger connectivity from the world’s busiest airport.
“Destinations have been chosen to help improve the connection between Emirates and flydubai. Further flights operating from Terminal 3 will be added in the summer schedule in 2019,” the airline said in a statement.
Terminal 3 is also the base for flights operated by Emirates, which had earlier entered a codeshare deal with flydubai.
Customers who are travelling to the said destinations before December 2 will not be impacted by the change and their flights will continue to operate from the current operating base of Terminal 2. Other flights will also continue to fly out of Dubai World Central.
“If you’re travelling to one of [the destinations mentioned] from December 2, we’ll be in touch soon with more information about your journey,” the airline said in a notice posted on Facebook.
