Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai on Thursday inspected the Emirates Group's new headquarters, which include Emirates, flyDubai and Dnata.

The building overlooks Dubai Airport and was built at a cost of more than Dh400 million.

Shaikh Mohammad inspected the e-check-in procedure for Emirates passengers, which takes only a few minutes. He was briefed about travel procedures from checking in and acquiring a boarding pass to passport checks, which are done in record time.

Accompanied by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and CEO of Emirates Group, Shaikh Mohammad visited the electronic operations centre of Emirates, where he viewed the map of regional and international destinations and the flight schedules.

He stopped by the employee service centre, which serves more than 40,000 employees of the group.

Shaikh Mohammad then visited flyDubai, the new budget carrier, and was briefed by Gaith Al Gaith, chief executive officer of the company, on preparations to launch the company's first flight in June.

He also attended a first-aid drill for the crew of the company's first aircraft, a Boeing 373-800.

Shaikh Mohammad viewed the company's logo and approved it, before receiving a miniature model of the aircraft from Al Gaith. The company is scheduled to receive two more aircraft in June.

The Vice-President visited the roof of the building which overlooks the airport and viewed the recently-opened Terminal 3, which is exclusively for Emirates passengers.

On his departure, Shaikh Mohammad viewed some photos displayed at the premises that show the history of Dubai Airport since the 1970s. He expressed his satisfaction with the new building, which he described as a great achievement that will help develop the group's work and services and provide the best and fastest service for clients.

Shaikh Mohammad congratulated Shaikh Ahmad and employees of the group for its ongoing development in quality and quantity. He stressed that Emirates airline, the group's backbone, will remain a messenger of peace from the UAE people to all people of the world.

Shaikh Ahmad thanked Shaikh Mohammad for his ongoing follow-up and care for Emirates Group.
