Dubai: Lufthansa Cargo will raise its fuel surcharge next week by 11 per cent in response to climbing crude oil prices, the company said yesterday.

The increase, which covers only cargo services and has no effect on fuel surcharges for passenger fares, will result in Luft-hansa's general surcharge rising from $0.45 per kilogram to $0.50.

The latest rise will take effect on March 26.

In the UAE, Lufthansa will raise its fuel surcharge from Dh1.65 to Dh1.85 for freight destined for Europe, Germany, the US and elsewhere.

For freight bound for the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, the charges will rise from Dh0.80 to Dh0.95.
