The clock is ticking down, and before you know it, Ramadan will arrive. But is your home ready to welcome the blessed month?

Now is the perfect time to take a look around and add special décor items that can help you create a warm, tranquil ambience to usher in Ramadan. But just how do you go about doing that? To get some insight, we spoke with Rabiah Salman, an Abu Dhabi-based design manager at ARKI Group, which is a contracting and manufacturing company that provides interior design-build solutions.

Salman said: “Popular themes or decorative elements for Ramadan and Eid often include traditional Islamic pieces, like lanterns, crescent moons, geometric patterns, arabesque motifs and Islamic calligraphy.”

She suggested starting with these general themes, and then finding creative ways to incorporate them into the aesthetics of your home.

Salman added: “You can add instant Ramadan flair to your home in so many different ways. For instance, you could consider adding decorative lanterns with LED lights for a warm ambience, or have Ramadan-themed dinnerware and tablecloths or runners to create a festive dining setting. You could also get Arabic calligraphy wall decals or artwork for a touch of cultural sophistication. These items quickly transform your space with symbolic elements, bringing about a welcoming atmosphere for the holy month.”
