A fine variety of cars owned by the late property developer Richard Welkowitz will be offered for sale at Mecum Auctions’ Indy 2020 event running from June 23-28 including this 380 horsepower 1989 Ferrari Testarossa - with just 169km on the clock.

Welkowitz was the founder, owner and president of Blackford Development. He passed away late last year and 19 of his vehicles will be sold, such as this 1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Saloon which has had a full professional restoration.

One of the main attractions of the auction is a 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO, 1 of just 599 examples ever produced. The car is painted in a gorgeous shade of Rosso Corsa and comes complete with a tan and black leather interior. It has a mere 270km on the odometer.

This Ferrari 599 GTB being sold is 1 of just 30 units produced with a six-speed manual transmission. By the time Welkowitz was a teenager, he was already enamored with exotic and luxury cars and would own and drive the finest he could afford.

Also a highlight of the auction is a 1963 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Drophead Coupe, one of just 27 left-hand drive examples built and formerly owned by actor Tony Curtis.

Other cars include a 2014 Lamborghini Aventador LP720-4 50th Anniversario Roadster. Welkowitz was extremely particular about his cars, that he insisted on “nothing short of perfect.”
