Accused fraudster Najeeb Khan’s amazing car collection to be auctioned

Najeeb Khan - the millionaire owner and CEO of Interlogic Outsourcing Inc., - is a discerning car collector but last year he was accused of fraud and declared bankruptcy. Now, his incredible collection of vehicles will be auctioned off. With over 230 cars and a bunch of associated automobilia, there’s something here for everyone such as this 1903 Clément 12/15 HP Rear-Entrance Tonneau. Brass aficionados will appreciate this one.

Khan was accused by KeyBank of fraud exceeding $100 million. He then resigned from the company and filed for personal bankruptcy.

The Elkhart Collection to be held by RM Sotheby’s in October consists of “over 230 motor cars, 30 motorcycles, trucks, trailers and select memorabilia and equipment offered almost entirely without reserve” and there will be plenty of takers for the "Shaw Special" - an American race car built in the early Twenties. Power comes from what is believed to be a 1917 Hudson racing engine.

The entire lot is estimated to be worth around $30 million and this 1924 Bentley with a Vanden Plas four-seater will surely fetch high dollar when the bidding begins. The body left the factory as a 3 Litre. It's since been re-powered with a 4 1/2 Litre engine, but the original motor comes with the car.

Looking at the collection individually, it feels like it should be worth far more than $30 million. Take this Pur Sang replica of the 1927 Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix for instance – it looks virtually indistinguishable from the real thing and will cost a very pretty penny.

What else is on offer, you ask? Well, just some of the most iconic cars in automotive history, that’s all... This 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Shooting Brake would be the perfect car to park outside your sprawling estate…

Interestingly, the collection is a tad light on rods and customs, so this 1933 Ford Roadster by Roy Brizio really stands out.

You can even bid of one of the all-time greats: a 1935 Auburn 851 Supercharged Speedster.

One of the 1936 White Model 706 tour buses originally used at Glacier National Park is available too and it has room for 16 passengers!

Khan clearly has a wide-ranging and deep interest in cars and he put together an amazing assortment consisting of all eras, styles and degrees of rarity such as this hard to find 1946 Hudson Super Six pickup.

It truly is an interesting collection which even boasts a 1952 Ferrari 225 S Berlinetta by Vignale, which has an extensive race history, at the higher end of the value spectrum.

The Indiana businessman has been accused of committing millions of dollars of fraud in association with his business meaning the cars are all headed to the auction block at no reserve including this super-cool 1953 Fiat 8V Supersonic by Ghia. Just 15 were made (plus a few Supersonics built on non-Fiat chassis).

We’re sure this 1955 Hudson Italia by Touring will have a lot of interest. On a side note, Khan has not been charged with a crime (at the time of writing) and is cooperating with authorities…

However, the sale’s proceeds will go toward paying debts he owes to creditors. And a large chunk of that will be raised by this 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing.

With timeless styling and advanced mechanical features, like its famous V6, the 1958 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT would be a great addition to anyone’s collection.

There are intriguing oddities in the mix like this 1962 Tatra 2-603.

And even a 1966 Amphicar! It was developed over a period of 15 years at a cost of $25 million…

Collectors will appreciate the Cosmo Sport and this 1967 model is very nice representative of the rotary-powered GT.

Amongst the weird and the super-expensive are a bunch of cool and relatively attainable models too such as this 1967 Ford Bronco.

The Elkhart Collection auction was originally slated for early May, but as with so many events, it’s been pushed back in the calendar which could spell good news for you if you’re scrambling for time to assemble the necessary funds to bid for some of these beauties…
