Filmmakers hoping to push the boundaries of Arab cinema
Filmmakers hoping to push the boundaries of Arab cinema are gearing up for the fifth Gulf Film Festival.
The annual event which takes place from April 10-16 in Dubai and April 12-14 at Abu Dhabi Theatre, opens with Kuwaiti feature Tora Bora.
Tora Bora is the story of a brainwashed young man's decision to join extremist forces in Afghanistan, and his parents' agonising search for him when he goes missing.
One of six Kuwaiti films shortlisted for the festival, Tora Bora made its debut at the Cannes Film Market and will enjoy a Middle East premiere here in Dubai.
GFF takes place at Grand Festival Cinemas, Dubai Festival City, and Dubai Intercontinental Hotel, under the patronage of Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.
