Dubai: A worker who chased a housewife inside a building and cornered her at the stairway before he forced her to kiss him, has been jailed for three months.

The 24-year-old Indian worker, H.R., followed the Filipina housewife, who was walking back to her residence, and then stopped her at the first floor on the stairway and kissed her against her will in July.

The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted H.R. of molesting the 27-year-old Filipina.

The defendant denied the accusation of molesting the woman contending that he did not touch the woman.

According to the charge sheet, prosecutors said the accused kissed the housewife three times.

“The defendant will be deported following the completion of his punishment,” said presiding judge Mohammad Jamal in court on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old testified that the defendant started tailing her when she was near a mall in Al Quoz.

“I heard his footsteps behind me while I was heading to home. I entered the building and took the stairs… he continued walking behind me. Once I reached the first floor, I turned back and saw him still chasing me. I told him that I would call the police if he did not stop chasing me. He grabbed me by my arms and backed me up against the wall before he kissed me against my will. He molested me and when I shouted, he ran away,” said the Filipina.

Records said the defendant was arrested later and the housewife identified him in the police line up.

Tuesday’s ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
