Man acquitted of storming into woman’s flat, stealing her mobile phone and cash
Dubai: A worker will spend six months in jail for having paid sex with his girlfriend in her flat where she worked as a prostitute.
The 21-year-old Pakistani worker, A.H., was arrested shortly after his 26-year-old countrywoman and girlfriend, A.M., reported that he had stolen her gold, cash and mobile in March.
Police interrogations revealed that the woman had allowed the man into her flat to have paid sex with her.
Records said A.H. had been having an affair with A.M., who had been charging him money every time they had sex in her flat at International City.
The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted A.H. of having consensual sex with A.M., who was jailed for six months for allowing her countryman to have paid sex with her.
However presiding judge Urfan Omar acquitted A.H. of robbing the woman for lack of evidence.
A.M. claimed to police interrogators that A.H. and his friend forced themselves into her place and robbed her.
Following his arrest, the male accused claimed that A.M. was his girlfriend and she had blackmailed him and threatened to publish his images while having sex with her on the internet if he did not pay her Dh10,000.
Presiding judge Omar said the defendants will be deported after serving their punishments.
The couple pleaded not guilty.
Records said A.H. stole the woman’s jewellery worth Dh5,500, Dh2,500 in cash and two mobile phones [that are believed to have contained his pictures].
Two other suspects, who remain at large, aided A.H. in the robbery.
A.M. said she had been working as a prostitute in her flat in the Italian Cluster.
“I worked as a prostitute in my own residence and charged Dh100 per person. One day at 5pm, the defendant and two others forced their way into my flat when I was collecting some goods that I had ordered from the nearby grocery store. They threatened me with a knife and stole my gold and cash … they also stole my mobile phones,” she claimed.
A police corporal said A.H. was arrested in May.
“The man said A.M. was his girlfriend and that she worked in prostitution and he had sex with her in her flat. A.H. further purported that she recently tried to extract Dh10,000 from him when she threatened to post his nude photos while he was drunk on the internet. He said he entered her flat with her consent and took the mobile phones that contained his images,” said the corporal.
Wednesday’s ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
