Video: Saudi man sets his hair on fire

Manama: Saudis have poured scorn on a young man who set his hair ablaze as he attempted to give advice on how to keep warm during cold weather sweeping the region.

The young man had soaked his hair with petrol, looked smilingly into the camera filming him to say: "You want to keep warm? Well, it is very easy."

He then used a lighter to burn his hair, but was shocked that the fire spread quickly, prompting him to jump back in an attempt to put out the fire. Three friends joined him in the attempt before they burst out laughing.

As the clip went viral on the Internet, social media users condemned the young man as "immature, irresponsible and foolish."

"Yet another fool who wants to become famous on the social media," Bandar, a viewer, said. "In his stupid attempt, he is putting his life at risk and setting a terrible example for younger people who might be tempted to emulate his act. He is totally wrong if he thinks that his act is a challenge that he wants to win. I certainly hope there will be legal action against him for his reckless and dangerous behavior."

Ahmad said that he wanted to see the young man's face after the incident.

"I just want to see what he looks like after going through this terrible episode," he  said. "Unfortunately, anything is expected from people with such retarded minds."

Happy said he hoped the young man had learned a lesson.

"He started off in the video as a lion, but ended like an ostrich hiding his head in the sand," he said.
