THE SHARJAH RAIN ROOM: WALK THROUGH A RAINSTORM IN SHARJAH: Visitors to the Rain Room in Sharjah can enjoy a rain-like downpour — without getting wet. The surreal experience is made possible by motion sensors that hold back the nonstop ‘rain’ where visitors stand or walk. The arrangement means you are continuously, and closely, surrounded by falling water wherever you are and wherever you move inside the installation, located besides Al Majarrah Park, off Al Sharq Street. Tickets are priced at Dh25 for adults and Dh15 for kids and students.

THE SKY DIVING SIMULATOR: If you're too scared to jump out of a plane, this is the next best (and less frightening) option. The sensation of free-falling is replicated in a vertical wind tunnel that will make you feel as if you're flying over the skies. The VR headsets also allow you to fly over some of the world's most beautiful locations right in Dubai. It’s the first and only virtual reality activity of its kind in the region.

Spread over an impressive 2,700 square metres, Infinity des Lumières has created an innovative, technology-driven artistic platform using 130 projectors, 58 speakers, and 3,000 HD digital moving images. Above, visitors look at projected paintings and drawings at the Van Gogh exhibit. As a magnificent, one-of-a-kind experience, Van Gogh's famed artwork surges with life. Vibrant colours and delicate patterns waltz and swirl to fascinating music, flowing ingeniously overbroad, inventive environments and engaging all of your senses, thanks to pioneering digital technology. Infinity des Lumières is located inside Dubai Mall on Level 2, near Galleries Lafayette. People of all ages are welcome. Children under 3 can enter for free. Children between 3 to 13 years pay Dh50 and Adults above 14 years are priced at Dh100.

THE FASTEST ROLLER COASTER IN THE WORLD: The world's fastest roller coaster, located at Ferarri World Abu Dhabi rips from its launch pad at 240 kilometres per hour along a two-kilometre ride. It has made it into the history books as being the fastest in the world. Riders will experience an incredible 1.7 Gs or roughly half of the gravity pull experienced by Nasa astronauts on a typical shuttle launch into space. It goes from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 2.9 seconds. It goes from zero to 240 kilometres per hour in 4.9 seconds. The launch technology is backed by a mind-boggling 20,800 horsepower, enough juice to propel riders aboard their F1 coaster to the top of the first arch in five seconds flat — by comparison, a small compact car engine is around 100 horsepower.

EMIRATES FIRST CLASS VIRTUAL WINDOWS: The first-class suites on the Emirates A380 were designed with comfort in mind as the seats recline into a fully flat bed and can be placed in a “zero-gravity” position inspired by NASA technology, giving a feeling of relaxation and weightlessness. The aircraft also boasts the industry’s first virtual windows for suites located in the middle aisle. These virtual windows project the view from outside the aircraft using real-time camera technology. In the other suites, binoculars are available for customers who want to explore the sky outside their windows.
