Dubai: It’s going to be an exciting summer for bargain hunters soon, as two separate shopping festivals scheduled to hit the malls in Dubai and Abu Dhabi will be offering discounts of up to 75 per cent to 80 per cent for several weeks.

For 59 days, from June 21 to August 18, retailers at 18 malls in Abu Dhabi will be cutting their prices by up to 80 per cent as part of the annual Abu Dhabi Summer Season (ADSS), the UAE capital’s marketing campaign that seeks to stimulate consumer spending within the emirate.

The bargains can be had at Yas Mall, WTC, Al Jimi Mall, Remal Mall, Shams Boutik, Deerfields Mall, Dalma Mall, Bawabat Al Sharq Mall, Marina Mall, Al Wahda Mall, Mushrif Mall, Khaldiyah Mall, Madinat Zayed Centre, Al Raha Mall, Mazyad Mall, Al Ain Mall, Hili Mall and Bawadi Mall.

During the period, hoteliers in the UAE capital are also expected to offer discounts ranging from 15 per cent to 50 per cent on hotel rooms.

On Friday, just a day after Abu Dhabi kicks off its summer festival, it will be the turn of merchants in Dubai to bring down their price tags, and bargain hunters are advised to keep an eye out for deeper discounts  during the 12-hour opening sale of the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS). There are also flash sales and non-stop discounts at various stores for 44 days.

On June 22 alone, retailers at six malls of Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) – Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, City Centre Deira, City Centre Me’aisem, City Centre Al Barsha and City Centre Al Shindagha -- will be cutting their prices by 25 per cent to 90 per cent.

The one-day sale exclusive to MAF properties will kick off the DSS festival and on top of that, the Mall of the Emirates will stay open from 10am on June 22 to 2am the next day.

Throughout the summer festival in Dubai, from June 22 to August 4, budget shoppers can also score some discounts of up to 75 per cent at retailers across the city.
