UAE hospital in Comoros Islands opens

Comoros Island people will not forget this great humanitarian award granted by Shaikh Khalifa, says Comoros president

Moroni: Dr Ikililou Dhoinine, President of the Comoros Islands said that the UAE under the wise leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has accomplished an important hospital project for his country which is the first of its kind there and the first to be established in a tropical island across the globe.

He also added in a speech at a grand ceremony that was held Friday afternoon during the hospital’s inauguration that the people of the Comoros Island will not forget this great humanitarian award granted by Shaikh Khalifa, and financed by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation.

Dhoinine also thanked General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and all those who followed the footsteps of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

He also pointed out that his country considered the completion of the project as a great work, and the first of its kind. The Comoros is proud of the project because it has come from a brother country, adding that the Comoros people will continue to remember the UAE leadership’s support.

Dhoinine added in his speech at the grand celebration that was attended by the Vice President, Parliament Speaker, ministers and members of the diplomatic corps, that the value of this hospital is very important because it has provided a place where people needing medical care can get treatment without having to travel abroad, hence, finances saved will give people more investment options.

“The hospital includes devices and modern medical equipment not found in neighbouring countries nor in the Comoros Islands” he added.

 

On his part, Khalid Al Hosany, the UAE Charges de Affaires conveyed through his speech the greeting of Shaikh Khalifa to Dr Ikililou Dhoinine and congratulations on the new hospital which will provide medical treatment for thousands of people in the country. He also added that the new hospital was modelled after the latest cutting edge technologies and is equipped with new medial machines and appliances.

The construction of the hospital took 12 months to accomplish and its machines and equipment were transported from the UAE and set up in the Comoros Islands.
