Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, on Sunday inspected the progress of work on the Khor Fakkan-Dafta and Khor Fakkan-Shis Road project.

The new road comes as part of Sharjah’s efforts to develop infrastructure projects and road networks to ensure smooth traffic and safe travel within the emirate.

The project consists of a 25km dual carriageway skirting the edge of the Oman border through mountainous terrain, to ensure smooth flow of traffic and safety of citizens in Khor Fakkan and people who want to visit the city.

The project, which is expected to be completed in March 2018, also includes the construction of several tunnels, some of which have already been completed.

Dr Shaikh Sultan visited Shis area where he was warmly welcomed by citizens. He spoke to residents and listened to their needs. The visit falls within his keenness to inquire about conditions of citizens and fulfil their requirements. They expressed their profound thanks and gratitude to Shaikh Sultan for providing Shis with all necessary services and amenities.

The project will aid economic development in Sharjah as the link will further encourage the use of Khor Fakkan port.
