Dubai: Travellers will be able to reduce their departure time through smart gates to as little as seven seconds at Dubai Internationl Airport thanks to several new projects launched by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai.

Major-General Mohammed Ahmed Al Merri, Director of GDRFA-Dubai, said they have a strategic plan to use smart systems to ease the travellers procedure at Dubai Airports.

“We are always keen to provide best smart services for the public to finish the procedure and to cut time and effort. In recent years, we developed many smart services to make a travel experience for travellers without stopping,” Maj-Gen Al Merri said.

The GDRFA Dubai now has smart gates at the airport which allow travellers to use their smart phones to cross the gates in what is called ‘UAE Wallet’.

“We are using the future accelerators to build a modern and efficient system to keep the travellers and public happy,” he said.

Meanwhile, Major Khalid Bin Mediya Al Felasi, Director of the Future Team in GDRFA-Dubai, said, the future accelerators’ team in his department gave many ideas to be implemented until 2030.

“We made a plan for the security of the travellers’ data to develop the digital fingerprint platform. We are cooperating with local and international companies to implement the future plans. We started the first phase with Emirates airline, Emaratech and a group of international companies,” Maj Al Felasi said.
