Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Wednesday carried out an inspection visit to Al Jubail market.

Dr Shaikh Sultan visited the area allocated for selling fish and inspected the advanced methods used by the shops. Al Jubail market contains a total of 91 shops for selling fish, which includes a section with equipment for cleaning and cutting fish.

Dr Shaikh Sultan then inspected the outdoor section of the market where the fish is transported from boats to the shops.

Later, he toured the section that includes 76 poultry and meat shops and 212 vegetable and fruit shops as well as the upper floor of the market which contains the administration section and the office of Sharjah’s Cooperative Society for Fishermen.

The new fish market was built to replace the old one next to the Creek and was opened in the beginning of 2014. The market features a system where fishmongers can conserve and handle fish through hygienic methods. The market’s design facilitates services and spaces for fishmongers to clean, cut, and sell their fish. It also improved the process of waste disposal for all shopkeepers at the market.
