Sharjah: Sharjah Municipality has announced that they have started a weekend campaign to eliminate street vendors in several areas of the emirate.

Omar Al Sharji, Director of Operations and Inspection at the municipality, said the campaign has resulted in the issuing of 218 fines to shopkeepers and vendors in Sharjah for violating the rules and regulations of selling goods without a licence.

A large quantity of counterfeit goods was also seized during the campaign. Al Sharji added that the campaign aims to regulate businesses and keep them in line with all legal and health standards to ensure public safety.
