Abu Dhabi Sandooq Al Watan has received Dh21 million in donations from prominent Emirati businessmen and UAE-based organisations, as a contribution on their part towards the Year of Giving initiative, launched by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The donations comprised Dh8 million donated by three Emirati businessmen — Dh1 million by Khalifa Bin Ahmad Saif Bin Jabr Al Suwaidi; Dh1 million from Ali Obaid Belrashid Al Katbi, Chairman of Belrashid Group; and Dh6 million from Abdul Rahman Saeed Ganem Al Ali. The fund additionally received an Dh8-million contribution from UAE-based businesses, while First Abu Dhabi Bank pledged Dh5 million.
Al Suwaidi said: “It is our national duty to contribute to all initiatives that advance the UAE’s developmental progress and reflect the most positive image of our country and its culture. We are happy to be contributing to Sandooq Al Watan, the initiative that seeks to realise the vision of our wise leaders who have urged us to invest in our human capital in order to empower the national workforce to achieve sustainable development and create a better future for coming generations.”
