Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced special offers and services on all marine transit modes — water buses, water taxis, Dubai Ferry and abras — on New Year’s eve.
The special offers on December 31 are being rolled out with New Year revellers in mind. The Dubai Ferry, water buses and water taxis will offer services from 10pm to 1am while abras will ply from 11pm until 12pm midday the following day.
Hussain Khansaheb, Director of Marine Transport, RTA Public Transport Agency, said: “This service is offered in the context of RTA’s continued interaction with customers and all resources have been mobilised to provide a new experience through marine transit, offering a chance to have stunning views of the New Year’s celebrations taking place at Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and Atlantis through the Dubai waterfront during a memorable water cruise for residents, visitors and tourists.
Tickets for the water bus starting off at the Marina Terrace station in Dubai Marina, with an assembly point near the Jumeirah Palm’s bridge, will be available for Dh100 per person with a 50 per cent discount for children. The water taxis will start trips from the Marina Promenade in Dubai Marina and assemble near Burj Al Arab. Individuals, families or groups comprising a maximum of 10 people can hire the water taxis for Dh3,000.
The Dubai Ferry will operate boats start from the Marina Mall in Dubai Marina, with an assembly point also near Burj Al Arab. Tickets will cost Dh200 for silver class and Dh300 for gold class with a 50 per cent discount for children.
“The RTA would wish to avail this opportunity to share the New Year’s Day with community members celebrating the event by offering them a first-time opportunity to view Dubai in a festive gear in an environment away from congested inland spots, particularly at the Burj Khalifa; which has a high billing as the world’s tallest structure,” said Khansaheb.
