Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai is studying introducing new services in Al Rashidiya after meeting community members and listening to their suggestions.
The meeting was hosted by the Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai recently. It was attended by Mohammad Al Mulla, member of the RTA’s board of executive directors and chair of the RTA’s Customers Council; Huraiz Al Murr, CEO of the CDA; and other RTA officials.
The council will examine the suggestions of Al Rashidiya residents regarding maintenance of internal roads of the neighbourhood. It will hold meetings with the elderly and residents with special needs in coordination with the CDA, to explain the services and benefits offered to such categories of residents.
The council assured that senior citizens would be permitted to use parking slots for the disabled or allocated extra slots besides the disabled parking slots, especially near clinics, hospitals and markets, if they could furnish medical reports from the relevant authorities indicating that their condition warranted treating them at par with the disabled.
The RTA will also study deploying more buses and taxis in certain districts, such as Al Barsha South and Al Warqa 4, and allocate parking spaces for taxis and buses in these areas.
