Dubai Ferry, water buses, water taxis and abras to extend services in different locations
Dubai: Set sail on a Dubai Ferry, water bus, water taxi or an abra to get a ringside view of the fireworks on the New Year’s Eve on Thursday.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Monday that it will make various modes of marine transport available for people to enjoy the celebrations to ring in the New Year.
The trips are being offered from various locations between 10pm and 1am on Thursday.
The Water Bus will run from Marine Terrace Station to the Assembly Point nearby the Palm Jumeirah bridge. The fare is set at Dh100 per person, with 50 per cent discount for children, and free tickets for toddlers less than two years.
Water Taxi trips will start from Marina Promenade Station and end at the Assembly Point near Burj Al Arab. Water Taxis can be chartered by an individual, family or group of friends not exceeding 10 for Dh3,000.
Dubai Ferry will run services from the Marina Mall Station to the Assembly Point near Burj Al Arab. Tickets are priced at Dh200 for Silver Class and Dh300 for Gold Class, with 50 per cent discount for children, and toddlers under the age of two years can ride free.
Abras will offer a journey from the Dubai Festival City Station to the Dubai Creek at a rate of Dh25 per person from 11pm on Thursday till 12 noon on Friday.
“The RTA is mobilising its efforts to offer a new marine transit experience availing riders a superb opportunity to live the thrilling moments of festivities held by Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and the Atlantis at the Dubai Water Front through sea cruises aboard marine transit modes. The experience is bound to leave fond memories for residents, visitors and tourists,” said Mansour Rahama Al Falasi, Director of Marine Transport at RTA.
