Dubai Police say car stunts illegal and punishable by law
Dubai: Dubai Traffic Police will summon the owner of a 4x4 vehicle that was used in filming a prank during which the driver performed dangerous stunts, an official said on Wednesday.
Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of Dubai Traffic Police, said the video posted on YouTube involved two cars, one performing the stunts and another filming. The number plates were covered.
The video, which had over 4 million views, is about a well-known YouTube prankster who took his mum for “a traditional dinner in the desert” in Dubai. The YouTuber then tells his mother to get into a car with his three friends, who are dressed in traditional clothes.
The driver then performs stunts, driving on two wheels, while his mother screams and begs her son to stop.
Col Al Mazroui said the driver was putting the lives of his passengers in danger when he drove the car in a deserted area in Dubai.
He said that the department will inspect the area and identify the vehicle and summon the driver and all those involved in the prank.
Following investigations and legal procedures, the driver is likely to be charged with endangering the lives of others and covering the vehicle’s number plates to evade the police, Col Al Mazroui said.
