Sharjah: Pakistan Social Centre (PSC), Sharjah, has announced that it will give up to 100 per cent scholarships to outstanding Pakistani students in the UAE.
The PSC has signed an agreement with the Global Learning Centre (GLC), which is affiliated with universities in Malaysia, the UK and the USA. “We have entered into an agreement with GLC University for provision of up to 100 per cent scholarships to study at some leading universities in Malaysia, the USA and the UK,” said Chaudhry Khalid Hussain, president of the PSC.
He said the scholarships will cover 50 to 100 per cent of the tuition fee to enable outstanding and deserving students continue their higher education.
“The move is part of our social and education projects to facilitate our expatriate community in the UAE as part of the Year of Giving of the UAE,” he added.
Hussain said the PSC always supports educational projects and the new initiative is a stepping stone to support and encourage the community’s best students. The centre also holds honouring ceremonies every year to award outstanding students in Pakistani schools across the UAE.
“The centre also offers students sports facilities in addition to reading facility at its library,” he added.
Masood Ahmad, education and cultural secretary at the PSC, said their priority is to improve educational standards of Pakistani students in the UAE and provide them with opportunities to study at the best universities.
Dr S.M. Tahir, chairman of GLC, said the community members should take advantage of the scholarship programme as it is a unique opportunity for those who are good at studies but cannot afford to continue their studies at the university level.
“We will not only provide scholarships but will also help students get admissions in leading higher education institutions,” he added.
