Al Sulaimani has not seen his two children in over five years after ex-wife disappears with them
Muscat: Ammar Al Sulaimi hasn’t seen his children in over five years after his Emirati wife took them and moved to the UAE in 2010.
“You can’t imagine the unbearable pain I live with,” the 46-year-old told the news site Atheer.
Al Sulaimani married in 1997 and had two children with his wife, Khalid and Maryam, who are now 13 and 12. The couple experienced marital problems which led to the wife’s decision to leave.
Despite several attempts to locate his children, the mother continues to change her address and disappear.
In 2012, she filed a case against him in an Ajman court to force him to pay alimony. The court later ordered the woman’s arrest but she disappeared yet again with her children.
Al Sulaimani has worked with Emirati authorities for over two years trying to locate his children.
Speaking to Gulf News, Al Sulaimani’s sister Muna, said that the Omani embassy in Abu Dhabi has hired a lawyer to follow the case.
“Any father will feel pain if he is separated from his children for years. Its traumatising,” she said.
