Al Ain: Strong north-westerly winds with speeds up to 50km/h could hit coastal areas on Wednesday and the national weather bureau has warned people to stay away from the sea as it is likely to be rough and dangerous.

A forecaster said fishermen and people in small boats should avoid venturing into seat at least for the next two days. The weather will also be windy along the western coastline of the emirates.

People living in the internal areas will also experience winds blowing at the speed of 20 to 38km/h, particularly in the western region of Abu Dhabi emirate, said the forecasters. This could result in sand and dust storms at times in the open areas.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), the weather will be partly cloudy in general and hazy at times. The amount of clouds will increase over the UAE islands in the Arabian Gulf and the coastal areas.

Temperature, especially in the western areas, will significantly drop down under the weather development. Al Ain and its surrounding areas were draped in thick fog Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, reducing horizontal visibility down to few hundred meters.
