Dubai: Global Village announced that they will remain closed on Wednesday due to “current bad weather conditions”, in order to ensure safety of guests and staff. Though the bad weather is expected to continue on Thursday, Global Village will re-open, starting 4pm on Thursday.
Organisers of Taste Of Dubai, a three-day outdoor food festival starting on Thursday evening, however, say it’s “full steam ahead”. A spokesperson told tabloid! that the forecast for Thursday evening is good, and while they have a contingency plan, they expect the event to go ahead as planned.
Food Truck Jam, a free event that takes place bi-weekly at the Emirates Golf Club, will go ahead as planned on Saturday, according to staff at the venue.
Amusement park Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, located on Yas Island, remained open on Wednesday, but temporarily closed all three of its rollercoaster rides as well as their Karting Academy and Ferrari Driving Experience. They told tabloid! that they will re-check the safety of the rides periodically and re-open them whenever the weather allows.
Wild Wadi, a waterpark connected to Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, was closed on Wednesday due to “heavy rains”. A hotel staff member told tabloid! that they will re-open the following day if the weather allows it.
Dubai Canvas Festival, a free-entry outdoor art event taking place in Jumeirah Beach Residence, has been running since March 1. It’s scheduled to run until March 14. Representatives did not answer tabloid!’s calls to confirm whether the festival has been affected.
Indoor events have not been impacted by the heavy rains. Alden Richards, a Filipino star scheduled to perform at Al Nasr Leisureland, will go through with his concert on Thursday night, according to a press representative.
