Dubai:Unlike Wednesday’s rainy weather, the UAE will be partly cloudy and the weather will be cooler on Thursday with Friday being foggy.

Moderate to light showers hit the UAE on Wednesday, starting from the western part and moving eastward.

“A very good quantity of rain fell in almost all areas of the UAE parts starting from 1am and weakening by evening,” a forecaster from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) told Gulf News.

“This weather pattern was due to the upper trough over the north-eastern part of Saudi Arabia and northern Gulf associated with cold air mass and more humidity that increased the amount of clouds associated with rain,” he added.

Falaj Al Mualla near Al Dhaid received the maximum recorded rainfall at 12mm while Al Manama received 5.6mm as of 4pm.

But the wet weather is shortlived. Thursday will be partly cloudy in general with light to moderate winds that may cause dusty conditions in some exposed areas. The mercury will dip by 2C to 3C on Wednesday, bringing the overall temperature to 20C to 24C and 5C to 14C at night in coastal areas. The Arabian Gulf will be rough on Thursday, becoming moderate by night, and moderate in Oman Sea.

Fog and mist formation is expected late Thursday night until early morning Friday over internal areas.
