Al Ain: Met officials see no respite in the next several days from the current sizzling hot conditions across the emirates.

With the mercury shooting up to the mid-40s, forecasters rate the weather as very harsh for all, particularly in cities and towns surrounding deserts such as Al Ain, Liwa and Sweihan. The human comfort index in these areas has dropped.

"When the temperature hits 45 degrees centigrade mark, the human body feels it as 48C. Environmental factors like sand, continuous sunshine, hot winds, and concrete and metallic structures further compound the severity," said a meteorologist.

Harsh weather brings life virtually to a halt around midday. Hot weather and hot winds force humans and animals to take refuge indoors until late in the afternoon.

Rough seas

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said the weather will be hot during the daytime on Wednesday.

Conditions will be hazy at times in some internal areas.

Some low clouds are likely to appear over eastern areas by afternoon and towering clouds over the mountains. They are, however, expected to not have much impact on the conditions.

According to the NCMS, winds will be moderately rough. This could lead to blowing dust and sand in interior and western areas. The sea will also be slight to moderately rough.
