The Roads and Transport in Dubai on Thursday issued a warning to motorists, urging road users to drive slowly during foggy weather.

Abu Dhabi Police warned drivers about heavy fog on the external roads of Abu Dhabi city, as visibility was reduced down to less than 800 metres.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology department issued a weather warning about fog and poor visibility over some central and western areas, as fog and heavy mist affected the country until 9.30am.

A traffic accident was reported before Beirut Street, as well as a second one on Al Awir Road, causing massive tailbacks up to Al Khail Road, and a third one disrupted the traffic flow on Shaikh Zayed Road near Al Safa Park.

Heavy delays were also reported on Al Wahda Street in Sharjah, Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, in and around Business Bay, and on Shaikh Zayed Road before and after Al Garhoud Bridge, and near the Al Manara Interchange.

According to the NCMS, the fog will continue over the weeekend, especially in the night and into the early morning. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 41 degrees Celsius with up to 95 per cent humidity.
