Dubai: Residents can now access the day’s weather forecast in Dubai using Dubai’s Weather, a service launched by Dubai Municipality on its social media accounts.

The daily weather bulletin will be available on the municipality’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Eman Ahmad Al Falasi, head of Geodetic and Marine Survey Section, said the Dubai’s Weather service is facilitated through the monitoring and forecasting system of Najm Suhail, an app launched by the municipality for weather monitoring in Dubai.

“Najm Suhail comprises 16 monitoring stations that collect air, marine and meteorological data, which includes wind speed, wind direction, wind force, relative humidity, soil moisture, dew point, fog, air temperature, water temperature, soil temperature, atmospheric pressure, tides, speed and direction of ocean currents, water quality, and rain. The monitoring cameras cover the emirate and all the main roads on a regular basis,” Al Falasi said in a press release on Wednesday.

She added that the sensors at the stations monitor the instantaneous data in a systematic and sustained way, round-the-clock, and send and store the data in a database to be used in the operations for predicting fog and sandstorms.
