Al Ain: A slight drop in temperature across the emirates has heralded the end of summer in the UAE, though forecasters are expecting a rise in humidity.

Mercury, which is still above 40 degrees Celsius in some areas, should fall gradually, beginning later this month and giving much needed relief after a sizzling summer.

Temperatures rose to above normal levels in some areas over the last three months, due to changing weather patterns and heat cyclones in the desert.

The UAE weather usually changes in September when the country comes under the influence of different atmospheric pressures. Conditions should soon cool down and become pleasant at night. There should also be more clouds in the sky especially in the afternoon, with occasional chances of rain in the mountainous regions.

In the next 48 hours, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) expects hot weather that will turn to haze. Conditions are likely to be moderate at night and in the early morning in mountainous and inland areas.

Weather will be partly cloudy over the eastern region. Winds are expected to be moderate, but will later gain speed, resulting in dust over some internal areas. The temperature is expected to be about 27 degree Celsius in the coastal areas. It will be between 24 and 46 Celsius inland and 23 to 35 Celsius in the mountainous regions.

No change in conditions has been predicted for the next two to three days. Sea conditions are expected to be moderately rough.

On Monday, the highest temperature recorded was 45.5 Celsius in Swiehan, a town in the north-west of Al Ain, followed by 44.1 Celsius in Al Ain, 44 Celsius in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, 43 Celsius in Ras Al Khaimah, and 42 in Dubai.
