Residents woke up on Tuesday to find a blanket of fog across the UAE, reducing visibility on the roads as residents commuted to school and work.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said that the morning fog brought visibility down to less than 1,000 metres at times, from 6am to 8am.

Heavy fog was reported in Sharjah, Dubai, Zayed City in Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah, as the level of humidity in the morning reached up to 95 per cent in coastal areas and 90 per cent in internal areas.

According to the NCMS, fog is expected to cover a number of areas across the country over the next two days, especially at night and in the early morning over some coastal and internal areas.

The temperature is expected to reach a high of 41 degrees Celsius in coastal areas and a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in internal and mountain areas will peak at 43 and 37 degrees Celsius with lows of 24 and 20 degrees respectively.

The level of humidity is also expected to reach 90 per cent across coastal regions.
