Dubai: Residents are unlikely to get any respite from the heat next month, with the weather expected to get even hotter.
July and August are the hottest months in the UAE when the maximum temperature hovers between 48 degrees Celsius and 50C.
Based on historical data from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), July recorded an average maximum temperature of 47.9C from 2003 to 2016 while August recorded 48C.
The same pattern is expected to continue till August 22 this year when the mercury will start to ease — albeit slowly.
For the remainder of summer, which in the UAE lasts from June to September, the intense daytime heat results in a thermal low over the Arabian peninsula, giving rise to a hot and dry southeasterly wind.
September will see around 3C drop in temperature compared to August with a maximum temperature of 45C and a minimum of 24C.
On Monday and Tuesday, forecasters expect hot to very hot conditions in general across the country with average temperature ranging between 37C to 42C and the mercury reaching a maximum of 47C in the interior parts of the UAE like Al Qua’a on Monday and 49C in Qasyoura on Tuesday.
The cloud cover will increase over southern and eastern areas and may bring rainfall in some areas, according to NCMS.
Light to moderate winds may kick up dust in exposed areas.
Relative humidity may increase by evening and continue till early morning in some coastal areas.
The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will be slight to moderate.
