Al Ain: Light to moderate rain fell in Al Ain and a small town bordering Abu Dhabi and Sharjah on Saturday afternoon.

As most of the UAE sweltered in 40-plus degree Celsius and medium-high humidity, Al Ain’s southern districts of Al Ghafar and Al Dahr saw a drizzle at approximately 4.40pm.

Around 40 minutes earlier, the town of Al Shuwaib, situated 60 kilometres north of Al Ain city, saw moderate rainfall and wind.

Earlier, forecasters at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said that people in the inland region of the UAE should be on the alert.

Charts on the NCMS website showed rain cloud formations, with larger areas of cloud cover in Oman.

“Gusting wind” in southern and eastern areas would cause “blowing dust and poor visibility” at times, the forecasters warned.

On Thursday last week, the Eastern Region village of Masafi received moderate to heavy rainfall.

Tomorrow, Abu Dhabi and Dubai are expected to see sunny skies and highs of 46 degree Celsius. Sharjah and Ajman should see highs of 43C.

The Northern Emirates would see similar temperatures, except Fujairah, which had a predicted high of 38C.

Monday is predicted to be cloudy across the UAE, while temperatures in Abu Dhabi are expected to rise to 47C.

Dubai is forecast to have highs of 44C, while Sharjah is expected to see highs of 46C.

The lowest temperature recorded in the UAE on Saturday was 21.3C on Jebel Mebrah, a peak in Ras Al Khaimah, at 6.30am.
