Dubai: Three people died and five were injured in different traffic accidents on Sunday and Monday.

Col Jamal Al Bannai, Acting Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said that on Sunday an Asian domestic worker died after being run over while she was sweeping the area in front of the house where she worked in Jumeirah 1.

An Asian woman was driving the car that ran over the worker. “The driver was trying to make a U-turn in a two-way street when she hit the victim.”

The victim died on the spot after sustaining severe injuries.

Also on Sunday, at 9pm, a Pakistani man sustained serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road near exit 50.

At 10pm the same day, Al Bannai said, a hit and run incident on Financial Road behind Grand Emirates Hotel resulted in a woman sustaining serious injuries. The woman who was hit could not be identified.

On Monday, a pick-up truck overturned on Dubai-Al Ain Road in the direction of Al Ain, injuring both the driver and passenger.

Col Al Bannai said that the vehicle was carrying items that were not properly loaded, which led to the vehicle losing balance and overturning as it was coming down the bridge.

The passenger sustained moderate injuries and the driver sustained minor injuries. Both were transferred to hospital for treatment.
