Dubai: A temporary detour will open on Shaikh Rashid Road, starting Saturday, September 5, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced.
Traffic heading towards Abu Dhabi will be diverted for a stretch of one kilometre between Garhoud Bridge and Wafi Interchange.
However, the detour will maintain the same number of the existing lanes to avoid any disruption on the traffic flow.
According to RTA, the diversion is required to clear the way for carrying out the remaining construction works of the flyover on the Shaikh Rashid Road as well as completing roads and utility works alongside Wafi City under Wafi Interchange Improvement Project.
The project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of next year.

Comprehensive Improvements of Parallel Roads Parallel to Shaikh Rashid Road The project is considered as the main continued connectivity link of the West Parallel to Shaikh Rashid Road where it is consequently linked to Al Garhoud and Al Maktoum Bridges. The project consists of constructing two parallel viaducts (2 lanes each) in addition to one flyover with a total length of 4.2 Km by using segmental bridges construction technique, while remaining 0.551 Km bridges will be constructed by conventional cast in-situ method.
