Sharjah: Distinguished car number plates generated more than Dh8 million during an online auction for the third category (Number 3) series number plates. Plate 77 received the highest bid — Dh1.46 million.
More than 400 bidders participated in the auction and some of them bought more than one plate number.
The auction organised by Sharjah Police in collaboration with Emirates Auction from October 7 till October 14 attracted the attention of bidders from across the UAE and beyond, and saw close bidding until 11pm on October 14.
The online auction witnessed intense bidding for 150 distinguished number plates, including two-digit, three-digit, four-digit and five-digit number plates featuring unique combinations like 555, 600, 880, 5555, 3000, 11111, 100000 and many more.
The plate number 11111 was sold for Dh680,500, number 555 received a bid of Dh465,000 whereas plate number 10000 was sold for Dh374,000 and the plate number 5555 fetched Dh356,500.
