Sharjah: The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has announced it will upgrade and improve 389 traffic lights.

The upgrade will include adding solar technologies and LED lights to traffic lights that emit a clear source of light even in cloudy and dusty weather.

The project will include maintenance work for 184 traffic signals that operate on solar light in the areas of Mamzar, airport free zone, Al Hamriya, and Wadi Al Hilu. Four new traffic signals will also be installed in the Heart of Sharjah by the Sharjah Fort.

The Roads and Transport Authority, in cooperation with Sharjah Police’s Department of Traffic and Patrols, monitors and updates the periodic timing of traffic signals in Sharjah to ensure smooth flow of traffic at intersections. There are an estimated 65 traffic signals distributed at intersections and streets across Sharjah.
